Every day goods are transported from all over the world. This creates a carbon footprint as well as a system that is unsustainable. The physical transportation of these good is exemplary in terms of what is to come from data transportation. Signals produced by data are transported from A-B through wires and cables yet we rarely stop to think about the effects this has on our physical environments.
